The Longboat Key Garden Club awards scholarships to recognize academic achievement and lend assistance to
college Juniors, Seniors, or above, majoring in subjects consistent with Longboat Key Garden Club objectives.
Scholarships are available to students majoring in subjects pertaining to the environment, conservation, botany,
landscape design, or allied subjects. Award amounts are at the discretion of the Garden Club and generally are
in the range of $1,500 to $3,000, although larger amounts have been awarded based on available funds and the
merits of the applicant.
The application period begins each January and all applications must be received or postmarked by March 15 to
qualify for consideration. Awards are presented at the Annual Meeting & Picnic held in mid-April in the
pavilion of Joan M Durante Park, 5550 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key, FL. 34228.
